Travel 4 Fun Megan Cross
Just because you plan to climb Australia’s tallest peak, Mount Kosciuszko; motorbike through Kerala, India; and camp with Papua New Guinea tribes, doesn’t mean you have to do it all with bad hair. Leaving home does mean leaving behind hair dryers and curling irons, but you will be bringing with you creative ingenuity. Here’s some hot hairstyle ideas for girls on the go:
The Twister
Part hair down the middle or on the side. Separate out two large sections of hair that frame the face and end just above each ear. Pull the rest of the hair back to keep it out of the way for now. Select one of the sections. Keeping fingers close to the roots, begin at the part and twist the section counter clockwise adding more strands as you move down the face. Form the twist so that it ends toward the back of the ear. Maintain the twist taut with one hand, then insert two bobby pins directly into twist to hold it tight. Repeat on opposite side. Release loose hair.
The Dolly
Roll a neck scarf and begin by placing it over your forehead so that the ends are even on both sides. Wrap the scarf downward behind your ears and around your neck so that the ends criss cross in the back and come back up to meet at the forehead. Pull the ends to rotate the wrapped scarf slightly off to one side. Then, tie a double-knotted bow. Wear hair either down or in a high, messy bun.
The Flapper Girl
Side part the hair. Then, comb the largest section of hair over the eyes (it’s easiest to achieve this style when hair dries in this shape). Tilt the head forward slightly to maintain the hair’s downward motion, then create your own wave by grabbing the front section just at the ears, tilting the head up, pushing the hair forward, then pinning it in place. Now, drape all your hair over one shoulder. Then, beginning on the opposite side, form a twist at the temple. Continue twisting the hair at the base of your neck until you reach the other side. Either ponytail the hair on the side or twist it up into a bun that hangs just below the ear.
The Fringe Faker
Grab a large portion of hair from the front of the face, comb it forward, and twist it upon itself to form a flat coil. Then, leave the ends free. Shape the free ends as bangs over the forehead and then pin the coil in place. Drape a rolled head scarf over the coil and tie it at the nape of the neck.
