Interstate 10 crosses the Mississippi River before entering Baton Rouge, Louisiana, from the west and continues east through New Orleans. Traffic is frequently heavy, and sometimes comes to a halt during rush hour. Each of the major interchanges on this section of the interstate hosts at least three hotels or motels.
